New (ish) member needing some parts

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I was a member while I had a short stint in a Mk1 Fabia Vrs, and now I’ve got myself a Mk2 Pre - Facelift Octavia Vrs in Race Blue.  It’s a 58 plate with the 2.0 TDI PD, 113k on the clock.

Loving the engine, not had this variant before and really like the punchy kick it gives you (all being short lived as it shoots you the rev range).

Bodywork however is rough, and I’m in need of a few bits to help me to not squint when I walk up to the car before getting inside.

So, I’ll probably have to source items in stages due to budget restraints but, need the following…..

- 18” standard Zenith Alloys

- Front bumper with Xenon washers

- Possibly an OSF Wing

Would prefer not to have to have full panels sprayed so race blue for the body parts, but don’t mind what colour for the wheels as I may well refurb them depending on price and condition.  They all need to be straight though, no cracks, buckles or welds, all need to hold pressure.

I also have a set of LE wheels that i’d like to get rid of that are currently on the car but at least one has a buckle, and are in need of a refurb.  Happy to try and balance the other two to check for buckles if a potential buyer requests.

I’m based in South Wales so as close to that as possible is great.

(Pic of my car below…..if I can work out how to upload)

Many thanks

I’ve currently got an 07 VRS that I’m putting a front end on.

Do not buy a second hand wing, here’s why.

From factory  they have panel bond put on then where the wing meets the corner of the windscreen. This means that when the panel is getting removed, nearly always they get bent.

pattern wings are available on eBay, I’m not sure you’d want to go that route either but they can be a cheap option.

As for the front bumper, you may struggle to find a used one that someone is willing to post for you, as bumpers are very expensive to post now.
As for the wheels, there are a set in the for sale section.

Unless the VRS front wings are fitted differently to the standard Octy they are bonded to a support bracket on the top of the run about halfway between the windscreen and the back of the headlamp. The bonding agent will release with the aid of a hot air gun and some patience, and the rest is just bolted up, so a replacement is quite feasible.

The parts diagram below is for a 2008 Octavia 1Z, and shows the wing plus support bracket (#6).  What it doesn't show (for some reason) is the kidney-shaped foam dampener which sits inside the top of the wing and is bonded in.  It is this part that I had to release using a heat gun and reassemble with fresh polyurethane adhesive (don't buy the VAG one at £30 or so, you can get the same thing from a motor factor for around £8).  I don't have the part number details for the foam insert here but I'll post it when I can find it.  NB the link to the parts diagram and the catalogue is included underneath.

BTW do check brackets #2 & #3 aren't bent.

Just read this post, it’s is fantastic, I’ve saved the link to my homepage to follow if/when tackle it.  The table with part numbers….. I’m guessing these are official Skoda part numbers that I could source from the dealers if I can’t source elsewhere?

Again, really appreciate the effort that goes into these replies, especially as for quite a new member as I am.

You're here, you asked for help, so we do what we can; after all, that's how a lot of us learned in the first place!

When I did my wing replace I thought I was just going to have to replace the wing, but when I got into it I ended up replacing the headlamp carrier, support bracket, those two little brackets I mentioned before and the bumper support bracket.  None were expensive but it was a pain to keep finding something else to fix :(  I also had to "kinetically readjust" the flying bracket that supports the little backets as it's part of the inner wing and welded to the chassis.

BTW I have a load of piccies of the wing repair if that's of any help?

I’m probably in the same boat as my OSF wing has a crease but my OSF bumper sags towards the edge (pic attached), so I may well need to replace some brackets as it looks like it’s been bodged on at some point, with some washers propping it up etc.  I’m also missing one of the headlight retaining collar screws and nut so something has happened previously, think it will be one of those when I dig i’ll keep finding too.

Definitely, send those wing pics over when you get a chance.  Don’t go out of your way as if I can’t source a wing I may send to the body shop but it may well come in handy, thanks.

Hi guys, I know it's off topic but, how do I buy the original parts for my octavia? (For me to put on the car)

Do I call the skoda garage? or is there a oem website?

call skoda parts and ask them a price

then call TPS (Trade Parts Specialists)

(search TPS Skoda parts it’ll come up) and they’ll generally be a better price but not always

failing that get the part number from 7zap or Catcar websites so you can search them on eBay as you’ll be surprised what you can find on there

I’ve recently purchased a brand new rear bumper for an 07 estate without parking sensors (Very rare bumper)

There's a nice blue '07 VRS up for breaking in Peterborough: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373647328909
