help! Another Apple Carplay issue....

Featured Replies

I've read through the previous topics but not found a solution.

Basically my carplay on my '18 plate octavia technology with the big screen has stopped working, just get the message "reading usb device" it does charge but nothing else. 100% not the phone or cable, as other phones won't work either, and my phone works on other cars

its just gone out of warranty so rather not deal with garages quite yet. a "hard reset" has been discussed but i'm not sure how to do that?

Its a fairly massive inconvenience, part of the reason I bought the car.

Any tips from anyone?

Quick web search as a suggestion (but I don't have Carplay)

What got it working: With iPhone connected, went into the car menu and chose the CarPlay app, it immediately popped a balloon on my iPhone asking to Allow CarPlay.

This might be a failed USB socket.its rare for them to fail but they can do. However, that requires replacement of hardware.

Suggest two things to do first: a factory reset -Car-Settings-Factory reset and the second is a firmware update as your Amunsden will probably have old firmware which will cause issues (anything older than 0478 is junk).

No, ping @pab567 with details of your infotainment system

I wouldn't do a complete factory reset if you want to keep any other settings. I would perform an individual reset. Phone disconnected. Main menu - Settings - Factory Reset - Individual Setting - Scroll down to Mirrorlink. But before doing that I'd recommend going to the settings on your iphone - Settings - General - Carplay - Skoda - Forget This car. Then do a hard reset on your iphone. The method varies depending which model iphone you use but is pretty simple. On my model you press and hold two buttons which will knock the phone off but you must keep holding the buttons pressed in while the screen goes black and until the apple logo reappears.

thanks, i tried resetting my personalisation, and removing from my phone. on my phone its doesn't even recognise the car is connected. so far this hasn't helped

the software is 0471, hardware is H41 same style screen as this

online update doesn't seem to work, but i probably need to go through the Wlan setup which i didn't have time

I would go with varaderoguy's suggestion of a firmware update then.

Have you tried holding the main power button down till it resets and restarts on the radio?

I would also fully uninstall carplay and do a fresh install on your phone.
