Map update issues 2021 help please

Featured Replies

I have just updated my VrS 2017 Mib 2 unit to 2021 map from the Skoda portal using my VIN as I have twice before.

I hit several issues

1) I couldn't extract or copy to the card as t was FAT32 skoda card and win RAR and Windows said the file ( 6GB) exceeded the FAT 32 file limit of 4GB.

Called Skoda UK .. who said convert to NFTS ..  did and it worked.

BUT the new maps inc 1/2 of Europe and when I ask to set a dest then I am asked which country ---- scroll to the bottom of list for UK , then chose country again !! England.

Then town before I get the pstcde .

The map is out of date as It still doesn't show the A14 Cambridge which was completed over a year ago! Speed limits are wrong in several areas.

Every time I ask for a new destination I have to go through the whole rigmarole of selecting country !

Never had these issues before.

Can anyone help or so I rip the whole unit out and fit a decent sat nav!

I prefer sygic but it won't link to the infotainment system . I get voice but not maps.

Sick of the awful Skoda navigation

Thanks

Okay - firstly - welcome to the world of VW Nav systems.  It can be challenging, but we are all in the same boat here.  I am assuming from the update procedure that you have an Amunsden system.

Secondly, even the latest maps from Skoda are out of date - try to utilise the VW ones - there is a whole section elsewhere on the forum:

You need the ECE whole europe maps - which will work on your Skoda system.  PM me if you need help.

Don't think any single file in the maps folder exceeds 4gb in size. I've just purchased a 32gb SD card (Skoda) with the 2021/22 maps on so will let you know. But to double check, do not copy the zip file to the SD card.

Extract the Maps folder to your PC then copy that maps folder to the SD card. Make sure you backup your existing SD card before doing so. Fat32 should be fine.

Agreed - FAT32 should be fine for the maps :)

I added a guide a little while ago that might help:

Although I've got the latest maps I can't say I've ever used the nav so I can't comment on the country entry or missing A14. They can be slow to update roads though....

That's exactly what I did and whilst copying windows said cannot transfer as the folder exceeds the 4GB limit :(

Thanks I will try that - it was next on my list to try.

Just don't understand why every time I add new destination it asks for the country and I have to scroll down the entire europe list to get to UK . Surely the bloody thing knows I am in the UK from the GPS ??

It even then has a sub section for england so clunky ..
