Skoda Fabia 07 Mk1

Hi Experts ,

Sorry for silly questions please, I m afraid very annoyed to see the Engine oil cap holder is very shaky and oil is possible coming out and it seems had spillover around cylinder 2 , I have opened spark coil and found that oils has not gone inside but could be reason because cylinder 2 is misfring . I have checked input voltage on coil connector it is 12 v &  connector looked bit oily.  Can some body please advice if any rubber or washer  is missing on base of the engine oil cap holder which is why it is very loose & shaky.

2nd thing I have noticed that my air filter never gets dirty as I change every year , on close watch I have noticed that throttle body mouth have space to suck air from surrounds  probably it is due to mounting rubber has worn out. My question is there any special rubbe/ seal/boot on top of throttle body which is needed so that it does not permit it to suck dirty air from surrounding rather suck only filtered air from air filter. ( not sure if it missing)

Last question I am testing  if spark plug is faulty or coil is faulty , so I swapped cylinder 1 coil  with cylinder 2 to get an idea. I had error code ( P0302 , P0106, P0170 )erased but now when I ran obd2 scanner again I don't get any error code even though engine is misfiring and engine light is blinking , abs sensor and stability light is also on. I have kept engine switched on for while but scared to drive because of engine light is blinking. Please advice why cpu is not able to recored same or different error code again. I could see the values Sparkadv and Shrtft1 readings are negative. o2 sensor is also behaving funny.

Any advice on these matters would be highly appreciated please. Mean time I have ordered  4 engine top mounting rubber to change it soon.

Thanks a lot.

kind regrds

Gasket between air filter and throttle body is item 3 (first one 036129625H) here air filter with connecting parts - Fabia(FAB) [EUROPA 2007 year] (7zap.com)

Oil filler tube parts shown as parts 24/25/36 here cylinder head; cylinder head cover; cover - Fabia(FAB) [EUROPA 2007 year] (7zap.com)

Oil leaks on these engines can be the result of blockage of the crankcase breather module on the rear of the engine block, item 19 here cylinder block with pistons; oil sump - Fabia(FAB) [EUROPA 2007 year] (7zap.com). If this item doesn't function correctly, the pressure in the crankcase rises above atmosphere, pushing oil out of any imperfect seals.

Look at these links on a computer, not a phone. Phones seem to cut some of the most useful info like the part numbers.

Try a different scan tool if fault lights are on but you are not finding fault codes.

Wino Much appreciated your time and help . I am trying to buy stuff as advised.

Wht a shame soem mechanic may least bothered to fix the gasket between air filter and throttle body and all these years car may have been sucking polluted air from years . This would have direct impact on engine efficiency.

Thanks

Why particularly? The "air filter" removes dust from the atmosphere before feeding it into the engine, but doesn't clean everything.

Agree KenONeill , in my case the rubber seal was missing so there was plenty of empty space for throttle body to suck air chances that majority of air would have unflitred.  So ordered new from Skoda hopefully will fix soon.

Yep, it won't pull air through the filter if there's a less restricted path, and the air leaking in will probably be hotter coming from the back of the engine bay.

Thought to update ,Today Nice young mechanic had spend time on my car and changed all spark and found that new code of  clynder 3 misfiring earlier it was misfiring  Clynder 2 so he changed just Cylinder 3 coil and error gone.

For abs sensor error it was silly thing rather than ABS sensor itself,  he found that the ABS sensor  Strip fuse was broken which was worth £2.5 .  Please note that I have cleaned the plug of Cylinder 1 and Cylinder 2 with carburettor /vgr cleaner , not sure if there would have been any dust which was misfiring.

I think   before changing  any coils one should remove them and clean connector with electronics cleaner and test it.

Hopefully now I shall monitor and see if engine light comes up again please. The error were P0302 , P0106 and P0170.

Hope it helps , Skoda engine seems rock solid even after 116k.

Thanks

Regards
