I love how he keeps comparing it to the Macan... know which one I'd rather have, but as I can't afford a Macan GTS I'll make do with one of these when it turns up :tongueout:.

Thomas could maybe try the 0-62 mph time with the vRS at full revenue weight.

A driver then the 6 seats with weigh strapped in them and weight in the boot.

Really something would be they had given it the 265ps engine with it being the bigger heavier SUV rather than getting the same power as the lighter Golf Hot Hatch or even giving it the 315ps of a Golf Hot Hatch / Estate with AWD.

Agree.

For the new Kodiaq VRS if they had to ditch the diesel due to virtue signaling and/or tax pressures in some markets, then it should have the Superb's 206KW motor.

I'll be going for a Formentor Cupra when I replace mine, and it's cheaper.

It's also smaller, and doesn't have 7 seats - all depends on what you want from a car.

150PS on my current Kodiaq has never been a problem... even fully loaded on the ups and downs of the A75 through the Massif Central. Gone for a VRS this time around because it looks nice, still has 7 seats, and is a very spacious car. Failing to see a reason why it needs any more than 245PS to be honest - pretty sure that will be enough for a hoot and a half on the roads around here on the rare occasion I'm not just ferrying the kids and their friends around.

You’re forgetting the hunger for power us Kiwis have...we literally have the highest Audi RS sales per capita in the world.

Agree its not quite the same and we never use the 7 seats now so can consolidate there. Yes, I'm sure new GTI motor will be fine but you have to admit the VRS is in a different league to having 150ps only, when passing slow traffic/trucks on single lane roads and attacking hills, especially if you are using all the space inside. The 500nm of the outgoing one made all that fairly simple and I live in an Alpine area too so use it frequently as well as the DCC options. We don't spend much time on motorways here, mostly on single lane each side 100kph rural mountain roads.

I came from a Golf R so going back to pretty much that motor if we don't have a torquey performance diesel on Skoda's flagship vehicle I would have thought made more sense for what they are charging for it. I also had a Octavia VRs with the GTI motor, and the Passat AWD with the 206 motor and they are noticeably quite different in performance.

If the Scout has 206kw, so should the top Kodiaq comparatively.

At least you can order a 5 seater unlike in the UK where there's only one or two spec levels that net you 5 seats only... Even more rear legroom than the 7 seater, too bad the variable boot floor is basically useless on the diesel RS because Skoda didn't put the battery deeper down the spare wheel well.
