EPC

Hi I’m not sure if I’m posting in right place. I have a 132 Skoda Citigo .. my EPC light came on the other day .. the car would start ,but  then cut off straight away. The next day I tried my spare key. Car started straight away and it’s driving like normal. But EPC light is still on. Any suggestions ? I have it booked into garage but I have to wait 2 weeks for them to even do diagnostics. Could it simply have been the key that was the problem ? Tried changing battery in key , made no difference. Any help is gratefully appreciated

Find an independent that can look at it sooner. All the light tells us is that a fault has been logged in the engine management, not what it is.

Very basic On-Board Diagnostic (OBD2) code readers can be had for sub-£20.  They will give the basic codes that are logged in the ECU memory and will also cancel the codes once you've read them; i.e. will switch off the dashboard MIL lamp.

They are easy to use and are powered by the cars electrical system, so no need to worry about batteries etc.  You can keep it in the glove box.

Once you've got the code/s, just Google to determine what they relate to.

On the Citigo, the OBD plug is located above the drivers feet under the dash.

Disconnect and reconnect the car's battery. This forces a system reset and on occasion can sort out odd behaviour.

This worked for me.
Had cooling fan whirring for far too long after engine off (hours).
Would only stop when we disconnected battery and then come back on when we reconnected it.
Left it overnight disconnected and zero problem next day.
Took it into electrical specialist to stop myself worrying over it. Zero fault codes. No problem since.

I mean I did this a couple of months ago, before seeing your advice... but I agree, it can sort out some issues

Cooling fan could still be a sticky relay or, less likely, an intermittent temp sensor... If the problem comes back check the relay (tapping it hard is the first thing to try,  to see what happens!)

Did you ever get a definitive answer on this?
