Fuse 26 blows when washer operates

Featured Replies

Hello !

New on the forum.

We have a fabia 2009 that blows fuse 26 almost everytime now when engage window washer.

The fuse does not blow if we only engage wipers.

Changed to another "used" box with the relays and it worked for a while, but now same problem.

Wiring diagram would help

You have a live short somewhere in the washer circuit. No, I can't tell you where because I don't have your car.

Washer pump sounds as it's  jammed or broken,  when you go to use it the pump  it overloads and blows fuse, rather expensive item around £50 last time i replaced one, had to remove wing liner passenger side and bend down covers under  bumper, book says you need to remove front bumper as well but managed to get at pump to replace it by removing wheel and bending down plastics and removing liner, the pump corroded mainly because people just use water

I too, would suspect the pump as when used just for wipers, ok. Does it also blow, when you use the rear wiper only?

The  fuse for rear wiper we had to remove last year because it started by itself and we couldnt stop it.

I  spent hours in the garage yesterday and now everything works fine but not the interwall wiping,

Why has it changed.

Do you mean the intermittent wiping? If so, my guess would be either a dodgy switch/lever or a duff relay. Failing that, it might be the convenience module or whatever controls the wiper's brain.

Suddenly everything works fine.......

Thanks for all support but now i have to wait and see if the problems comes back.

Perhaps you had some damp somewhere that subsequently dried out.
