Will these fit my Mk III VRS?

Featured Replies

Novice question I have a 2016 petrol VRS with the larger (340mm?) front discs and HR springs

I was thinking of getting some winter/all season tyres, it's winter down here in NZ.

I've seen a set of 18" audi rims:

5 x 112, 8j x 18 ET 39

These have a set of nice condition Michelin winter tyres fitted, 245/45/18.

I presume the 45 profile/aspect ratio will make the circumference too big for the arches and foul the steering (as well as giving an incorrect speed reading). Is that correct?

The decreased offset (further out) will help with it not hitting the arms on full lock.  Pretty sure the stock width is 7.5 so the inner face should be similar. 12mm change in offset but 12.5 wider (6.25mm either way) so 6.25mm further away.

The outer face will be the 12mm offset + 6.25mm further out.  So 18.25mm.  Plenty have run 20mm spacers which do effectively the same to the outer face.

As you have said, the main issue will be the rolling diameter.  This may rub the arches.  Especially with the greater poke.

Also need to check the center bore.  57.1mm I think, although you should check this as it's a guess.

tl:dr

tyres may rub because they are bigger and will stick out more.

You have to try them before buying, if you insist, but I advice against this wheel dimension. Maybe the looks will be better, but functionality of the vehicle will be compromised. This wheel is intended for much heavier Audi.

Thanks very much for the replies, it sounds like they wouldn't be a goer.
