Will 225/45/17's go straight onto a Fabia vrs?

Featured Replies

Just looking to change the wheels on my 'furby' (soz - am new on here!) and am possibly looking to get a set off TT wheels. I realise that the overall tyre/wheel size is around 7% bigger but was wondering if they would go straight on without rubbing. Also, does anyone know of any skoda approved suspension/springs as my car is just 1 year old and I don't want to affect my warrantee.

Cheers

Pretty sure they're a bit too wide, and the 45% profile of a 225 tyre makes it too tall. Believe it will rub a fair bit. You really need 205 or 215 40 R17. I've not seen anyone try a 225/40 R17 yet. :)

Ouch - good job I didn't buy them yesterday!! I've seen a few pics with the TT wheels on, does that mean a 205 or 215 can be squeezed onto the wheel??

Depends on the wheel. My TT wheels are 8 or 8.5" wide so no worries with 205 or 215 :D 45s on a Fabia would be too tall.

I got 205s fine around a 7.5 wheel. I've seen them on a 8j wheel and that looked very stretched.

You've got to have your wits about you with tyre/wheel combos on Ebay, as basically most people selling oem 17s from their cars will have the wrong sizes (a la Golf, Audi, etc) The only way I've found is look for bare alloys only and get your own tyres for them.

i have just been looking online and there seem to be quite a few wheel/tyre combos of 205/40/17 for around 500 quid. It might be a lot less hastle to do it that way by the looks of things!!! I'm having my tints done on Thurs for 180 quid which seems to be one of the best deals down my way. I think I'm going to have the legal limit on the front though a lot of people seem to go one shade darker!!! Pics will be on their way soon.......

Right, back to revision....got my first of my finals on Weds!!!

I have 215/40/17 on TT rims and find i get ever so slight scuffing on the plastic arch on the N/S/R, would stick either to 215/35/17 or 205/40/17(Cheaper option)

I have 225/35 ZR17 on my Fabia.. They're just awesome

I think the tt is pcd112 spec and the furby 100 so it won't fit.

Certainly My TT wheels seem to fit ok :)
