AWD Enyaq but in Ecosuite trim

Featured Replies

I am currently a Karoq owner which has been my fourth Skoda so far.

I am smitten by what I've seen and read on the Enyaq but Skoda doesn't appear to offer my preferred package (as yet anyway).

I would like the 80X variant with awd but in the standard Ecosuite trim and not the Sportline which comes with the leather/alcantara interior instead.

Does anyone know if this option is likely to be available in the future?

I tend to find that car salesmen actually don't tend to know their product very well and so asking my local agent is not always the best solution, hence my question on here.

Not got a helpful answer but that would have been my preferred specification too. As neither Skoda nor VW were offering AWD until late 2021 and I needed to replace my car, I opted for a RWD ID.4 and some snow socks if the weather gets bad.

So not helpful but will follow the thread with interest.

I came away from "building" an Enyaq very disappointed.

Almost impossible to get a build - trim, wheels, paint, features - comparable to current SEL Kodiaq without adding multiple packs that include things I just wouldn't want.

Look  at something as simple as front parking sensors fer cryin' out loud.

As for the Knobless dash.  I despair.

Why on earth would we want to run around on 20" (££££) rubber in this day and age.

And the price of course rockets to a simply unacceptable level.

I guess my move to EV is a long, long way off.

The fact is EVs are currently more expensive than the nearest petrol/diesel alternative. The option packs just mean they can advertise the basic car at a certain price. It’s like the original Octavias where they did a 1.4 mpi Classic spec, that virtually nobody would actually order.

The good thing about the options packs is they have meant there actually is a basic model, which is what I wanted.

To answer your points above, front sensors are around £500 extra and also come with a rear camera.

The Knobless dash is actually ok. I went for a test drive with a lot of prejudice against these screens but actually get on with it. I have found the system difficult to understand and set up initially, but once the penny drops and you customise it to your needs it works well. The average 10 year old wouldn’t even have to think about.

20” tyres, it’s a big car therefore it will have big expensive tyres. I guess your Kodiaq will have 19” tyres which you can get on the Enyaq. What is the difference, £50 per tyre ? You can’t really be in the market for a £30k to £50k car and be concerned about a £180 tyre.

If the spec you need puts the price over a realistic level for you, then as you say, your move to ev is a way off. I made the mistake of having a test drive out of interest and then scrapping my motoring plan for the next 5 years to go ev now.

Nobody was a bigger petrol head than me, but the way these things drive is brilliant, and I’ve spent less on charging in a month than I would spend in a week on fuel in my 1.4 tsi Octavia.

But who needs a rear camera ?

I just want beepers on the bumpers.

And yes it matters to me that 20” tyres are stupid expensive. And give a poorer ride.

As for the myth that EV cars are almost free to run ……….

Batteries don’t grow on trees.

Many that have got used to rear cameras feel short changed when there is not one.

Great things that show you why there might be a beeping, because if some child has put their scooter behind your car you need to get out to see why there is a beep.

Who is it you think that are needing to be buying batteries for the car they lease of that they might have for 10 years?

They come with batteries unless you had a car where you leased the batteries and they were installed and replaced if needed, that is ending now on new cars but there are still people that own the cars but not the batteries.

12 volt batteries are a consumable on an EV just as with a ICE vehicle.

I’m not going down this rabbit hole, I’m out.

Hopefully they eventually do an awd non sport line version for ronniebarker.

Strange that you can’t build an 80X in the UK. In Norway we can get most variants so far, except Founders. 80 and 80X in normal or Sportline.

Maybe they haven’t considered the UK AWD market as large enough to warrant the 80X inclusion yet.

As for the salesmen, many seem to be woefully uninformed. If that’s a personal issue, dealership issue or Skoda issue I don’t know, but there are certainly a lot of different answers given by Skoda salesmen.

They will build them and import them into the UK when ready, but VW will always delay Skoda when it might hit them.

Skoda are only allowed the percentage of first registrations that the VW Group want them to have.

There really is no reason for the AWD models in the UK for the people that might well want them, but the bigger batteries are important as the charging network is so poor in much of the UK.

If Snow Gates are closed then the roads are closed to AWD EV;s just as they are to 4x4's or delivery vans, cars etc.

Time will tell just how many are used by business users that will need to tow or go on tracks.   Domestic, pleasure and leisure users with caravans will be more common.

Beepers on the bumpers can't spot a soft verge when you're reversing.
