Fog Lights not working

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a Roomster 3 2007.

I have an issue with my fog lights not working. The side lights, headlights and steering (direction) lights work fine.

I decided to replace the light switch module (like for like) which has not cured the issue, so I am thinking I have another fault somewhere.

Just wondering if anyone might have some ideas or some checks I can carry out to find out what the issue may be.

Thanks in advance for all help and advice given

Have you checked the fuse ?

Electrics on roomsters are not the strongest, but they normally fail where cables flex at door and tailgate hinges.  That wouldn’t really apply to front fog lights.   Guessing remotely can’t eliminate a damaged cable from being a possibility.

You have already changed the switch, and if it was replaced without damaged pins in connectors, then unlikely to be the problem area.

A guess is possibly the connectors or even the earth connector at the bulbs

Have you checked the bulbs, or the power to the bulb holders with a multimeter? That would have been my first check. Strangely bulbs sometimes fail at almost the same time.

Check the bulbs first! Our old Mk1 fabia, both fog lights reported at MOT not working, turned out both bulbs failed, by the looks of them due to vibration as they were clear and the filaments detached.

If the car has cornering lights too, the bulbs might well be twin filament and so it's possible just the ones that do the fog lights have failed independently of the cornering function ones.

Thanks for your help and sorry for my late reply. We have been away for a while so I have not had the chance to check any of your suggestions yet. I will check over the next couple of days and report my findings.

Thanks again for your suggestions it is much appreciated
