Seat Swap

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Newbie post. I've had my Superb mk2 for a few years but have really struggled with the comfort of the drivers seat (elegance, heated, electric with memory etc). Have had it in the trimmers and tried to get it right (more padding/ less padding etc), but nothing has worked. Problem is that no matter how far back I put the lumber support, it puts pressure on my lower back, tried for a long time to improve, but with no luck. Any long period behind the wheel leaves me in pain for a few days afterwards. I've had a lot of cars and never had this problem before (my my1 felecia seats were more comfortable!)

Long story short, I took a mk3 out for a few days and the difference in comfort was amazing. I've now decided I'm either swapping the seats out or selling.

I'm thinking of swapping the drivers seat out for either a L&K mk3 version or possible one from an A8 of the same year (2011) which sounds like it might go.

Seems like a few folk have looked into doing this swap but I've not found a post where it's actually been achieved. Has anyone managed it and how easy is it? Any relatively straight swaps for other VAG models? Will the mk3 Octy L&K be the same as the Superb?

Cheers all!

If you're getting lower back pain, it could be that the seat base is not supporting your legs enough. I used to get lower back pain in mine until I figured out that this was the problem - my lower back muscles were doing a lot of work supporting my legs and getting sore and tired. Tilting the base up at the front until it was fully supporting my thighs fixed it completely.

As for a swap, I doubt seats from an A8 will work. Superb 3 might work as the platform it's on can trace its lineage back to the one under the Superb 2. Electrics and airbags may not work though. You may just have to buy the seat and see if it fits.

Cheers mate, I've honestly tried every combination of seat set up. Haven't had this bother in any other motor, regularly done 5hrs in several others with no hassle, just can't get on with this one and had it 5 years. Think I'll have a go at sourcing the mk3  and see how I get on.
