Undocumented Feature

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but it concerns coasting while in Normal (D) mode on the 2021 SE L DSG ACT 1.5. I remember a question around whether other owners had noticed this happening in D or only in Economy mode and I had certainly noticed it but it seemed random (unlike in E when it disengages and coasts as soon as you lift your foot off the gas). Anyway, to cut to the chase I have (accidentally) found a way to make it go into coasting (if that's something you want to do) in D - whilst rolling along in gear as normal lift your foot off the gas and then give the accelerator a quick light jab with your foot. That seems to force it into coasting and the console shows D (rather than D6 or D7 or whatever) and "Eco" also shows in the display.

I quite like coasting when it's safe and appropriate to do so as it helps with the MPG, take it or leave it I guess. Anyone else noticed this?

Cheers,

Ed

Not much good if your rolling along and give the accelerator a quick jab expecting it to go and it’s slipped into coasting mode.

I don't have the same car bit will check this out as I don't think mine has it.

Regarding the lifting off coasting scenario, I find that only happens if the engine wasn't under load at that instant. For example going uphill wouldn't activate it but travelling on the level would.

The OP's car is rather different from other small TSI's with s DSG like a 1.0 or 1.4 as in that the 1.5TSI has ACT.

Then later ones can be different from earlier ones.

Agreed KennyR but this is rather a jab on and off again instantly. Not the same as a jab for power which you continue to hold.

More a twitch of the foot than a jab I find
