Cheap way to do long coding

Featured Replies

It appears you can buy any elm327 (one that supports the full feature set) and do long coding and diagnostics using the following app:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ovz.carscanner

The app costs €5

Has any one tried it? Or for a elm327 they can recommend to buy that's not fake enough to not work?

You could install m. I. B. Toolkit on the headunit if you have mib2 high (columbus) and do it for free direct from there, if you were the type https://github.com/jilleb/mib2-toolbox

I'd be very careful using it for coding...

Looking at the website, it's not clear if it will let you change lcode/adaptions or if it's limited to 'one-click' type functions which change multiple things without showing what: https://www.carscanner.info/coding-mqb/

OBDeleven has some similar functions and they don't always work are described, nor are they always easily reversible.

At the very least, make sure you've taken a full backup and put it somewhere safe so if it does mess something up, you at least have a chance of fixing it with VCDS etc.

That looks promising I'm not sure I have enough will power to install that not sure what the risks would be. Even with this elm327 i won't do it if it looks too risky. I have a friend ordering the nextgen obdeleven device, might just borrow that when i need it..

I have seen some youtube videos of the app and it doesn't appear to be 1 click apps type of coding but rather the long coding / adaptions. Here have a look:

Oh, and for clarity, the base functions provided over obdii are mostly around emissions and major fault codes, for long coding, adaptations, you'd need obdeleven, vcds, odis or similar
