Karoq Scout

Featured Replies

Hi ,

Does anyone out there have any experience of a 2021 model Karoq Scout please. I see its discontinued but am looking at a new one locally. Diesel btw.

Thanks

Norrie Mac

It's largely a cosmetic job, adding extra 'wooden' trim inside and a bit more protection to the outside, so comments on any MY21 diesel Karoq will apply.

Ah, Thats great Chris, Thank you.

One other thing is that all Scouts (in the UK at least) were 4x4, so the fuel consumption will be a bit worse than FWD diesel Karoqs.

ah, good point, thanks chris

im not too fussy about a scout, don't need fwd, but there is one avaiable nearby. I really want an edition, for the pan roof and varioflex seats but thin on the ground and new is a long wait.

Edition can only be ordered as 1.5 petrol 2wd at the moment anyway. All other variants are not available

Hi Ken , Thanks for the message.

Ive just been offered a year old karoq edition by my local dealer-diesel, which I tested last week and liked however was put off by the sales pressure. They have now reduced the price by 700 pound which is making it attractive -however Im naturally suspicious and wonder why the previous private owner had it for only a year and the dealership have had it sitting for a month.

Any advice as an edition owner yourself??

Thanks

The previous owner could have been furloughed / lost his job / couldn't afford the payments any more. Or it could have been a dealer's demo car.

And it could have been sitting at the dealers because their initial price was too high (now rectified by the drop in price?) The sales pressure could be because they need to hit their August sales targets (a slow month for new cars normally with buyers waiting for the September 71 plates - although the lack of new cars to sell may be disrupting that pattern.)

Compare the spec with other similar cars around the country to see how the price compares, but be aware that with the long delays for new cars, I'm told used cars are increasing in price. If it's a local Skoda dealer, you should be getting a 30 day/1000 mile exchange guarantee, as well as the balance of the 3 year warranty.

Try a free valuation on Parker's,  if you know the reg.  And for a few ££ you can fine tune their valuation.  I've found them very accurate when the dealer's shown me their price screen.

Hi Chris and Flying Gecko,

Thanks for your replies.

Good points Chris, we live in strange times. Didn't know about the 30 day guarantee. Ill check that out.

I contacted a dealership in the Midlands selling a Black Karoq this evening- same spec as the local one The guy could not have been more helpful, sent a video, offered to pay for my fuel and overnight stay etc.. Told me the car was sold by himself, immaculate condition and the only reason the one careful lady owner traded it was was buy a Kodiaq- apparently she is a bird watcher and needed a black car to hide from the birds and a bigger one so that she could lie down in the back of it while watching!

salesman then sends me the PCP quote-hang on I thought somethings not right here, despite being listed at a cheaper price than the local Karoq with the same terms, , the repayments were more. A wee bit of head scratching revealed an APR of 9.6% which was not mentioned on the quote.

Incidentally both dealers have offered more than previously offered for my 2013 Fabia Monte Carlo. So yes used cars are in demand.

FG: Great point about  Parkers. Thanks

What?!?!     9.6% ???  That's a ripoff.  Not even the likes of BMW and Mercedes charge that.  Mercedes currently asking 6% APR on new, BMW 2.9% APR.

Skoda's website is asking 4.9 % APR  on Karoqs.

I realise it's a bit late for the OP now but Scouts came with the panoramic roof and vario-flex seats too.

I personally think the extra body kit compliments the looks of the Karoq very well. I think the grille surround, roof rails and window surround trims would have gone better if they'd been colour matched with the silver bits of the body kit and wing mirror caps. That's maybe just me though.

Bought a Scout in July 2020, ex demo. Have been very pleased with it, great spec and fuel economy, good space inside, pana roof is a nice feature. Scrubs outside of front tyres despite tracking etc being spot on - dealer said 'usual'.. so new tyres at 16000 !.

Wondering about the 19 inch wheels as the ride could be better but grip and road holding is good but not sports car stuff obviously.

Might look at some 18 inch wheels with 235/60 tyres like the Audi Q5 has.

Good luck with your search.
