Data Transfer Setting

Featured Replies

I have just got a new Skoda Superb SEL with the Amundsen infotainment equipment. Generally I am very pleased with it, but every time I start the car, I get a message pop up on the infotainment screen saying

"Data transfer is currently set to “Share my position”. You can find out what this setting entails and how you can change it in the control centre."

At the moment I have no idea what the "control centre" is or how to stop this annoying little message popping up every time I start the car. All help and advice would be really appreciated.

is this any help?

100andthirty,

Thank you very much. that was very helpful.

This question comes up a lot it seems!

Sharing your location means you get that message when you fire up, it's a GDPR regulation in case another driver or any passengers do not want to share that information. The plus point is if you are in a severe accident the SOS features will kick in and use that location to save your life, hopefully.

Switching it off means you may no longer receive the message on fire up, but does mean if you find yourself unconscious and upside down in a field in the dark and rain and nobody seen it happen and nobody is aware you are in said field, nobody is being dispatched to help you, because you turned off data sharing due to an annoying message!

Gax,

Thank you for another very helpful reply. The GDPR point hadn't occurred to me. I won't find the message quite as annoying now.

I also have a new Superb SE L Amundsen and I share my location but I don’t get this message, I am pleased to say!

Are you sure you're definitely sharing it? The message has to appear to comply with data protection laws if you are.

Now you need to figure out and advise how not to get the message!
