I think it was in 2018. But it needs to be confirmed.

2018 is correct. I received my 2018 MY19 272 in November 2018. 

I'm pretty sure it was with the switch to the 272 for MY19 in 2018. The MY19 started production in September 2018.

I don't think the '280' came with the 7 speed until the recent (2020?) move from the 272 to the new 280.

 

Note that this depends on the market. In Australia we still have the 6 speed in the 'old' 280 (206tsi here), but we've had a limited run of Scout's with 272's and 7 speeds.
