Error code P0016

Featured Replies

Hi everyone  I get a recurring error code p1006.

After the warning light came on I had it scanned and got this code.

I have fitted a new camshaft position sensor and also as part of a major service had new plugs and ignition coils.

The error clears but soon recurs, I've since found out that it can also refer to the crankshaft position sensor too.

Another symptom is the mpg display showing nonsense.

Does this point to the crankshaft sensor being faulty? ,also does anyone know the location of this senor as the Haynes manual is clear as mud about this.

Thanks in advance

P0016 as in the title, or P1006 as in the text?

What engine does your car have (engine code preferably)?

My car hast the 3 cylinder 12v 1.2 engine.

P1006 is the code from the code reader old code.

I think your engine code must be CGPA then.

I would suggest that you check the chain timing before replacing anything else. This can be done by removing two covers from the battery end of the rocker cover, and checking the relative angles of the two slots in the ends of the cams.  They should always be at the same angle relative to each other. When cylinder 1 is at top dead centre on either compression or exhaust stroke, they should be parallel to the head/block join.

Crank sensor is in an awkward to access spot on the back of the engine block.

So is it fixed? With a new crank sensor?

The sensor is changed, you were right about the difficult access.

The fault has cleared and its starting up properly and light staying off.

Just need to do a road test now.

Thank you once again
