Superb 2017 Combi, tailgate brake light stopped working

Featured Replies

The brake light next to washer jet doesn't light up anymore when applying brakes. Error code shows after starting the engine and applying brakes. Turn the engine off, start again and no error codes. After engine has been started and error appears, VCDS says:

"11274 - Bulb for Center Brake Light
          B12C6 15 [009] - Open or Short to Plus
Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
             Freeze Frame:
                    Fault Status: 00000001
                    Fault Priority: 1
                    Fault Frequency: 1
                    Reset counter: 28"

Any idea what might be the solution? Does the light have a separate fuse? Do I have to replace the whole lamp, what's the part number? Have the wires been prone to break? How does the wiring cover come off from the tailgate?

Many questions but I haven't had this issue with the car so far and I've got no clue on how to disassemble the tailgate plastics etc. Better be prepared if someone has experience already on this matter. 👍🏻

R u referring to the inner triangle light cluster on the boot lid?

If so, these r the part numbers, depending on the outer version (LED High or LED Basic) u have:-

- 3V5 945 307 A/B/C/D (Sedan Tail light Left Inner)

- 3V5 945 308 A/B/C/D (Sedan Tail light Right Inner)

- 3V9 945 307 A/B/C/D (Estate Tail light Left Inner)

- 3V9 945 308 A/B/C/D (Estate Tail light Right Inner)

I've never replaced or removed these inner light clusters, so I'm not sure wat is involved.

I've removed the outer taillights plenty of times, and they're easy to do.

Is there any obvious damage to the wiring between the body and the tailgate up by the hinges?

Error message not very helpful. Trim off? to get to the connector, then see if there's power. That might isolate wiring or the light unit.

No, there is no obvious damage. Do you have to take the tailgate trims out (both lower and upper) to get access to the light unit? I tried this today after several weeks of hibernation on this matter (lack of time) and there are some clips that are TIGHT. I was afraid the trim might get damaged and thought to ask for instructions, if there are any. :')
