left front vent temperature probe location?

Featured Replies

Our 2010 Skoda Octavia 1.6 TDi (Climatronic) only produces heat from the floor vents and front-facing vents on the LH (passenger side) if the temperature gauge is set at max. Set it to 26C and it just blows cold air. Going into the measurement block in VAGCOM had  left front vent temperature probe reading 71C whereas the rest of the car was around 30C. Reading on Forums about the AC , this seems to make sense: unless you ask for max then the controller thinks you're already warm enough. The air isn't 70C so I'm thinking a duff sensor.

My question is where is the  left front vent temperature probe ? A search in Google of " skoda octavia left front vent temperature probe location" gives no obvious or even unobvious replies.

There were no fault codes from VAGCOM.

Of course, if anyone has any other suggestions as to the cause, I'm pleased to listen.

This doesn't seem to be a very common issue from looking at forums or Google not attempting to sell me the correct sensor.

Probably just a bad connection at the sensor.

The centre vents' sensors are located in the ducts below the flip up dash stowage compartment, I would assume the outer vents' sensors are accessible via the vent itself or by removing the glovebox/fuse box panel/stowage pull out.

I've found 1 sensor on20211010_153447.thumb.jpg.3d9d9a729765a403d1ea92263d10bd13.jpg the LHS air vent very near the centre vents; behind the radio. It looks like a thermistor. Anyone know what it should read if all is working correctly?

There should be two, compare them.

I was hoping not to take the rest of the dashboard apart. But, good point.

All good fun...

Assuming its the same as the Yeti which uses the same platform then the individual vent temp probes are high up the duct just before the outlet vents.

I replaced my dashboard after an airbag deployment with a reconditioned one, it had come from a higher spec car than mine and had holes for the sensors that mine didn't have.

The dashboard comes out very easily.

I phoned the local parts shop and they didn't have the part. The main dealer has quoted me £33.and it's a special order.  But, just to be safe I've I've managed to get at the other sensor and measure the resistance.

14C 13k Ohm

finger temp 10k Ohm

my "dodgy" sensor - 3k Ohm

So, explains everything.

I should add A) Calling the main dealer turned out to be a waste of time. I was told £33 and that someone would call me back. They never did.  My friendly, local garage ordered the part for me and it was only £30.Original VW part as well.

Have this issue as well. I replaced both sensors named G262 and G263. These are the ones measuring the temp on the air footwell. So, where exactly are the left and right front ones then? I found also same as poster, but to me that looks like the indoor room temp sensor. Not the left and right front vent sensors. So anybody care to elaborate?

This is listed as the cabin temp sensor. Guess it is not the left, right front temp s3nsor. I have same issue as you so very interested in finding the right sensors (right, left front vent temp sensors)

Reply to my own answer. On my LH steering wheel car (scandinavian) octavia 2010 MK2, 1.6tdi, the front left upper temp sensor is behind the radio. Need to pry off the silver plastic frame with plastic tool. Next use same tool on the black inner frame and now you will see 4 torx screws T25. Take them out and just grab the radio and pull out. Disconnect 2 connectors on back. You will see the left front tempsensor to the left upper side. Pretty easy access. That is 3D0 907 543A.

The right temp sensor is located behind the passenger compartment box. Take this down and you will see it high up to the left towards the centre console.

High up is the left front sensor behind the radio

Just pry out the frame with appropriate tool
