New vRS - any oil? - Don't understand !

Featured Replies

Going to check my 06 vRS at lunch for oil - it's done 1100 miles now - and from what I've read - is thirsty to start.

What oil do they put in new - can I put any of the reccommended VAG 505 oils in (e.g. http://www.fabia-vrs.com/PD_oil.htm)?

Halfords is convenient for me - and I can get the Castrol Edge Turbo Diesel 5W40 4 Litre in there. But if Skoda stick in a different oil - can I mix?

Help please! I am thick!

D

As long as the oil is rated VAG 505.01 for PD engines its fine, doesnt matter what brand.

Not sure your'll need 4 litres!

Cool - I'll go for that Castrol Edge stuff. Had some of that magnatec in my old GTi - and it was like a new car (after 136k miles!). Really top quality stuff.

Yeah - it's pricey stuff - I'll just get 1ltr!!!

Cheers, D

The dealers sell the 1 litre cans for around £11, they are just the right size to go in the nearside of the boot. There is a nice velcro strap just the right size.

Always handy to have some on you as it is often difficult to find.

Oil consumption is wierd - some use loads, some use none. Personally I used 1L in 1000 miles and none at all since.

Just keep a close eye on it till after it's first service and you'll have a good idea what it's up to.

Not a VRS but I uesd 1 1/2 litres in the first 5km then not a lot since.

Halfrauds sell oil that is approved for VW PD engines - just check the label on the bottle.

The dealers sell the 1 litre cans for around
