Apple Carplay in a 2013 Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

Hi - Glad to be part of the BriSkoda community.

I'm just about to buy a very nice Octavia vRS estate in Race Blue. It has a non-nav Bolero infotainment unit.
Does this unit have Apple Carplay?

I asked the dealer over the phone and he says it doesn't have Bluetooth.

But a quick look at the 2013 MY brochure shows that all units have Bluetooth, although there is mention of an optional

an optional Mitsumi Apple connectivity socket.

Anybody have any knowledge of this?

Many thanks in advance.

Does the radio have a phone button on it?

I think it was about 2016 before AA & CarPlay was an additional paid for option.

Later cars have it available for free.

The Mitsumi socket allows various leads to be connected but with limited usability.

You could either upgrade the unit to a more modern one with Apple CarPlay @pab567 is the man for helping you with that! Or you can get ‘adaptors’ that retro fit into the existing unit, but it’s not 100% quite the same…

If not retrofitted by th eprevious owner then 2013 does not have SmartLink. Pls post model number and SW version of infotianment unit to make sure.

The factory fitted infotainment didn't have CarPlay until the MIB2 versions, which were fitted from mid 2015 production onwards.

My early 2015 production date Octavia had a MIB1 so it didn't have CarPlay so I can't see a 2013 Octavia having CarPlay from the factory.

Hi, Yes it does have a phone button on it  -  and a USB slot by the gear change. I've attached a picture.

Press the phone button...

Then you can press the gear icon at the bottom.

It will probably give you the word bluetooth somewhere in there. This will allow you to manage the paired devices.

FWIW with MIB1 it won't be carplay with the screen sync,  just bluetooth audio.
