Epc light.

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I am currently having a big issue with my 3 cylinder fabia 1.2.

Starting with the engine management lights coming on, these were scanned as faulty engine sensors, due to mileage covered these were changed along with the spark plugs and ignition coils as they were due.

This cured it for a short while then i got the epc light and limp mode.

The engine is/was fine cold but went into limp mode with epc when warmed up and was difficult to start from warm.

A VW specialist was certain that this pointed to a stretched timing chain, this has been changed by a professional garage but the issue remains.

Looking likeI am going to have to take it to a skoda dealers but has anyone got any ideas what this could be or is there a 'reset needed'.

Thanks in advance.

What year is the car?

How many miles has it done.

Where are you located?

Have you or anyone else ever inspected the brake servo vacuum hose?

Since the VW specialist appears to have cost you a chunk of cash on a misdiagnosis, maybe they'd scan the car for free to tell you what fault codes it currently has stored?

Hi

The car is 2013 with 80,000 miles and im in Birmingham,  I will get car scanned when I pick it up later today, and do my own scan to double check.

Will ask them to check hose then post codes later this afternoon.

Thank you for your quick reply .

Hi,

I've just got back from picking the car up, The mechanic said that when the fault reoccurred they double checked that the timing was correct which it is spot on,

He also showed the the old chain and sprockets which have signs of wear on so it would have needed changing soon anyhow.

The obd diagnostic is saying crankshaft sensor and he's said to obtain another one which he will fit for free then he will lean on the supplier for a warranty refund if the first sensor turns out to be faulty.

In the meanwhile i will make the check which you have suggested.

Thank you for all your help.

I have checked the servo hose, it is in good condition.

DTC P0335 is the error code, crankshaft sensor confirms garage reading, im going ahead with another sensor and letting them fit it.
