Skoda octavia mk2 scout 2009 2.0tdi haldex problems

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, hoping someone can help, customer of mine has 2009 octavia scout 2.0tdi living in ireland but car originally from scotland so has had a rough life and suffering from alot of corrosion and rut underneath.

Customer asked me to check the 4wheel drive as he felt it had stopped working.

Their are no warning lights on dash, after scanning 4wheel drive CM these faults are present,

Codes: 02248, 00003, 16347, 01044(picture attached also(obdeleven) )

Looking at faults would i be on right track saying haldex control module has failed

Won't a clogged filter or gauze screen result in the same errors?

HALDEX Pump has gone SOUTH!!!!

Okay, this system is a HALDEX4 pump system, which means it is usually always connected, but at 15% power to the rear wheels.

My first port of call will be the pump.  I think you will find this has failed.  The failure is caused by a blocked filter.  You will need a new pump, a new filter set, pump o'ring and some HALDEX fluid.  All of this can be obtained by the brilliant guys from HALDEXPARTS.

The filters can be found here: https://haldexparts.co.uk/products/111358-audi-vw-seat-skoda-gen-4-awd-oil-filter?_pos=2&_sid=dd085baae&_ss=r&gclid=CjwKCAjw_L6LBhBbEiwA4c46uhXhX_nUc-ec5bd_Kk3iZ_ihz4n1HVBUW45sAyCn0zNSiq-_mCdoQxoCurAQAvD_BwE

Don't forget that once you can changed the fluid, please advise your customer to change the fluid every 20k miles, otherwise they will get another pump failure.

Don't forget to 'properly' recommission the pump - otherwise the pump won't relearn with new fluid.  Don't forget to retop-up the HALDEX fluid after the re-learning process.  You may need a VCDS to get this process to work (haven't tried it on ODBEleven b4):

I would also add....do a service first and see if it fixes it....then if no sound from the pump, replace the pump. Finally if still no joy then it is the expensive replacement and that is a HALDEX 4 logic board.
