Bolero MDI

Featured Replies

Forgive me if this is in the wrong place....

I have just bought a 2010 L&K 2.0 TDi, and it has the Denison MDI fitted (As well as an AUX socket.) with an Ipod end, which is interchangeable for an end for another type of device.

I have a Samsung Galaxy phone, but cant find the correct adaptor to plug into the MDI.

I assume if such a thing is available, it comes with a 3.5mm jack plug to plug into the phone to allow audio at the Bolero end.

Can anyone help please?

<From memory>

I'm not sure if the Denison MDI was OEM or not but either way, it will only be a dumb connector.

Likewise the AUX socket but that cable should be easier to source.

Do you not have Bluetooth to stream audio?

The car doesnt have the bluetooth module fitted and it is greyed out on the Bolero.

Ideally I would like to have the phone working, but am confused as to which module will utilise it, AND stream.

I can't help out with that but connecting via AUX would allow you to hear what you'd already set going on your phone - if you have a headset socket.

You wouldn't be able to change tracks etc from your head unit though.

Oem mdi was a multi pin plug in the glove box that a variety of tail connectors could be purchased for like a USB or old iPhone style connector. Using mdi with say a USB stick was better than a micro sd card in the unit because the mdi would allow more native conversion formats like more/ aac.

Denison was something different a third party offering which may have done something similar.

To get phone functionality and bluetooth streaming you'll need a genuine bt module and microphone and harness.  Lots of posts on here for that.
