Continuing water leak issues

Recommended Posts

I recently posted about a wet pollen filter/footwell and thank everyone who replied for taking the time:

After drying the passenger footwell completely I am still to find the culprit.

I have checked both scuttle drains and made sure behind the wheel arch liners is clear - not the issue. (Unless there is a centre drain I'm unaware of?)

Screenwash level has not dropped - not the issue.

Coolant level not dropped - not the issue.

The pollen filter has since remained dry, but the passenger footwell and the drivers footwell now get wet. It all takes place under the carpet, there is no visible sign of wet on top and it appears to be coming from behind the foam on the bulkhead and only when severe enough does it make it to the underfelt. After thoroughly drying it out using an air blower piped under the foam/felt for a couple of days I checked under there following a night of heavy rain and was amazed to find it dry. However after driving the car it again got wet. When driving the car a couple of days ago I was convinced I heard the sound of water rushing when I first moved off then not again, upon arriving home and checking I found the drivers side soaked and the passenger side dry.

I'm at a loss as to why this has suddenly started and open to any suggestions as to what the reason could be?

Again thanks in advance.

Best next suggestion is to try and check blanking plugs and grommets in the bulkhead and front floor, particularly if this happens/is worse when/after driving on wet roads.

So this may or may not be related, but when my heater matrix got blocked, I discovered that I had a very wet carpet on the drivers side that went up the back of the bulk head, with the foam wet as far up as my arm could feel.

My matrix has been replaced since (twice) and the issue resolved. My carpets have not had any damp issues since.

This happened in August a couple years ago, so I wasn't aware of the heater matrix problem initially. A quick check of all vents blowing hot air and you'll know if the matrix is blocked.

So, I have a very similar issue on my 2014 vrs estate - non sunroof. Passenger side footwell soaking. Checked the washer fluid hose, coolant and pollen filter (dry but wrong way round thanks Skoda!). All fine. Its defo fresh water and discovered its getting over the seal that attaches to the car body. Ordered one from TPS today. Basically, I'm pretty sure it's one of the seals that's degraded over time so I'll just start with this one first.....

Thanks for all the replies.

Car is booked in for MOT next week and the garage are going to look at the obvious culprits while in there.

Could it be the drain tube for air con dehumidifyer ,just a suggestion as i had similar with my alfa some years back ,once poked clear all was good .

Apparently there is a drain either side of the tunnel so could possibly be as I only found 1 to check on the drivers side.

I checked this last night and all vents blow warm air so don't think it's this.
