I'm waiting on delivery of a Superb Estate iv as a company car.

 

I had planned to spec it with a reversing camera but had the choice of doing that and having a 30+ week wait or getting one that had just arrived in the UK.

 

I've searched and realise the question about retrofitting has been asked a lot, I found this Octavia topic (

Would this work on a new Superb, if not, does anyone know of one that would?

Hi there, that would not work on a new Superb as it uses more of a Audi Q2 design now since 2020-.

 

the thing about no coding required is a complete lie, the mib unit needs to be told, the park assist also needs to be told and on top of that it will need calibrating using a OE ‘giant domino’

 

It can be done properly yourself but requires odis/vcds, the camera and loom and the calibration board.

As someone who has an estate with the camera, I'd recommend you try driving the car without it for the first month or so.

 

Mine has a camera and it's a bit rubbish frankly. The resolution is poor, its useless at night and the guidance lines are not accurate.

 

However the parking sensors are pretty decent, as is the auto dipping left mirror in reverse. I only look at the camera now if I know there's a bollard behind me

My thoughts on the reversing camera, having never had a vehicle with one it is new to me as it was fitted on our sportline plus, never rely on  it solely  for normal reversing, it has bleepers and mirrors.

Although the camera is great for lining up the caravan hitch, saves arguments with the wife as she tries to direct me.

I suppose it is an extra safety feature.

It is also nice and clear.
