Superb Rear Wheel Bearing bolt torque figure

Featured Replies

Hi all. Wondered if anyone out there would know the torque setting for a Superb (2012) wheel bearing bolt (M18). I haven’t removed it yet as waiting for a breaker bar to arrive in the post. I believe it’s going to take a lot of grunt to remove it too! Also, do you know if you can remove the ABS speed sensor from this side once the bearing has been removed?

Thanks in  advance.

I done the rear and Sure it’s 180Nm then 180 degrees and believe me that’s tight. Mine was no where near that tight when I undone it, came loose quite easily.

on retightening I only got to approx 130 degrees and give up ( it’s not coming loose)

I had a abs fault so got new sensor and broke it getting it out so stripped the disc off and that’s when I found the abs ring on the hub rusty and breaking up.

Had a complete new hub which came with new bolt

So wasn’t the sensor at fault

hope that helps

Ive also had the driver s side front drive shaft out also when I done the egr valve, just refitted the bolt and dogged up tight as possible

Thanks for the response. I completed the job today. Removing the wheel hub bolt took a lot of effort. I had to use a 35mm diameter breaker bar with a 1” drive M18 socket. To add to that, I used a piece of scaffold tube as an extension to the breaker bar. Removal of the actual wheel bearing was easy enough, doing so allowed access to the broken speed sensor which was tapped out using a Philips screwdriver. The old bearing was badly corroded around the reluctor ring which is probably why the signal failed. Anyway, I found the torque setting from. VW forum.. it’s the same as a golf. All done now and warnings disappeared after a few rotations of the wheel (thought I might have had to erase the codes). Thanks again. 👍
