Help with oil for my high mileage 1.6 tdi

Featured Replies

Hi guys I'm looking to give the car a service. It has used some oil from I've acquired the car. It was serviced this time last year and I can guarantee it has never saw an engine flush in its life so I'm looking to flush the engine (and the coolant while its in as the the water looks rather brown ) and replace the oil. I'm considering using high mileage oil as she's currently on 310k miles but the problem is I can't find vw507 spec high mileage oil (although it specifies low ash) and I've read other forums that seem theres no great benefit from it.

Take it for a run and get the oil drained when at operating temp and that is all the flush required.

Lets sleeping dogs lie!

It would take a lot of effort to not be able to find oil to VW504 00 / 507 00  so 5w 30 Full Synthetic III

It is sold in Asda, Tesco and other supermarkets probably then at Motor Factors or online.

Also at Main Dealer & Filling Stations where is might well cost more.

If you can find 'High Mileage Oil' suitable then great, but has the engine got a excessive oil use now with whatever is in?

Yeah well the other thing is what am I going to disturb with a flush ? No I can get vw507 oil no problem but reading people are on the fence in regards to using high mileage oil. In theory it supposedly rejuvenates the likes of the rubber seals buy I don't know. I know she has used oil from the last service  (father in law gifted us the car and serviced it before we got it) but it only throws the oil light on when cornering. My mate said he noticed a tinge of blue smoke on a start up buy that was months ago and I haven't noticed it since. She isn't smokey and there's no oil stains any where to seen (was in last month as it decided to through out the gearbox mount bolt and the belly tray was dry to.) The coolant isn't mixing its just dirty the bottle more so than the coolant but she had used water a few months back and due to not having access to coolant at the time I fired some water in so I want to drain and flush coolant system before the really cold weather sets in.
