Fabia 1.4 mpi (68hp) to 1.8t auq

Featured Replies

Hey guys!

I started a 1.8t project on my fabia, and i stuck a little bit.

Anyone can help me a little?

So my biggest problem is the gearbox holder, because i can't fit my own holder, and i don't know, what holder should i use.

And i have one more, the halfshafts.

1.4 halfshaft are shorter than the octavia shafts, and i can't fit the swingarm.

I tried replacing the outer wrist, but it's too long yet.

Anyone can help me?

I really want to make my love running, with an 1.8t.

And sorry for my bad english, but i'm living in hungary, and i can't speak properly.

I believe @Tech1e is your best port of call, having done some mad but also amazing projects involving 1.8T engines and Fabia's of a certain age... :)

What gearbox are you using?

Factory 1.8t auq gearbox.

Ah that’s why then. The Octavia uses an 02J and the Fabia an 02R. The 02J is wider at the end case where the mounting goes.

And somehow i can use the auq gearbox?

Maybe if i create a new console for the fabia holder?

yes you will have to widen the bracket.

Probably be a matter of cutting and splicing the wiring loom of the car amongst other things.

I have no idea about the immobiliser however.

I have ecu and wiring loom from the octavia, but i don't really know what i have to use in my car.

Becausw i have some relays too, but in my car i have relays, for the petrol pump, and idk.

Fabia is a Polo 9N platform, Octavia is a Golf platform, Golf is wider than Polo so the driveshafts are too long, driveshafts from a 1.9 or 2.0 Fabia should fit but you'll probably need the struts and hubs as well which is a good idea because then you can fit the big brakes.

Adding on what Sep said, big brakes are a necessity since you're going to be putting down more power.

Yes, i will buy the bigger brakes, next week delivers by the courier, feom a mk1 vrs fabia. This is 288mm the seller said.

And i replaced the back bridge, so i have disc brake instead of drum brakes.

So the 1.9 shafts fits good?

Because i can buy 1.9 shafts fromt the guy who sold the engine.
