Hello from France

Bonjour à tous !

This how we say Hello from France 🙂 I'm happy to join your community as I've just bought a new car ... and guess what ? Yep, this is a V/RS !

I'm 37 years old and I was looking for a familly car (wife plus 2 girls and a dog) with a bit of fun (no more diesel please!)

This one costs me about 30k€ and it is the more beautifull car I've ever owned. I was looking since 4-6 monthes to find a model with the "RS Challenge" pack which delivers the famous DCC feature/option.

Of course it's a 245 hp petrol engine with the DSG automatic gearbox. It has some nice features like the dual electric sunroof (?), virtual cockpit, KESSY, Canton sound system, 19 inch wheels, heated seats/steering wheel ... and many more.

Please apologies if my English is not perfect, but I'm sure I will find here lot of information that will help me to enjoy this new car !

See you later guys, cheers !

Very good, you did it well !

Has your nickname AnnoyingPentium something to deal with IT/CPU ? It sounds funny to me 🙃

In the IT history, Pentium were not always annoying, they were sometimes serious AMD opposants !

Why thank you. I'm a little bit rusty due to the time that has passed. :D

It is CPU/IT related, as was intended. I used it as a username on a computing forum or two and I quite liked it, so it stuck. The first part of the username is merely how I'd have described myself at the time. Now, I use it quite often as it's simple and memorable. The Pentium CPUs were pretty good to a point, the Pentium 4 wasn't good, but all that came before it (and a couple after, but less so), I think, were good. :)

When I think about Pentium, I realize once again that time flies. Had some of them, starting from a Pentium 133, a Pentium II 350 MMX, Pentium III 1 Ghz and ... then lots of AMD. It was years ago when I was a teenager, I did enjoy computer hardware 🙂

Now I'm still able to build my custom rig, the one I'm using is under a year old.

This said, you can now imagine that cars and computer technology are part of my hobbies. Hopefully there are some more 🙂

Indeed. I'm 17, so never saw the development of the Pentium first hand (besides late P4 CPUs), but my first IT experience was on a P166 system that belonged to my Grandfather around 2008/2009. That set me up for a life of wanting nice computers of a particular age. I've had a Celeron 300A, PIII 500 MHz, and then I went onto a 1.1GHz AMD Duron and a 1.8GHz AMD Duron. I've even got a 486 laptop!

My custom rig is a little underwhelming, but my laptop is a pretty tricked out OMEN 15.

I'm much the same. I find that putting a decently weighted computer in the rear of the car stops mine from bouncing about as much. :D
