Hi, we have a ‘new to us’ Superb estate mk3 2018. It has the blind spot symbols on the wing mirrors, but we can’t see a setting to activate them within the car, and we’ve never seen them work? Does this imply the car doesn’t have this feature?

I'm pretty sure they are activated in the maxidot.

What trim level is the car?

Sorry, what’s a maxidot? It’s an SE TECHNOLOGY. The listing said it came with heated seats, but it doesn’t, so wonder if this is something else it doesn’t have. The blind spot symbol is only on the drivers wing mirror. 

When u start the car, they should briefly light up, as part of the ignition sequence.

.... assuming they r installed.

 

If they r there, then u can switch them on via the steering wheel or infotainment, under Driver Assistance settings.

My driver controls only say front assist, nothing else.

I wonder if the wing mirrors got smashed off and they replaced with those or a project which never happened

if this is the case then theyve put the wrong glass on your car and it shouldnt have any symbol.

Could have been replaced - mirror glass seems to fall out quite easily these days?

A blind spot glass is around £400 so would be a weird one to replace it with

I fear, the original driver wing mirror has been replaced by a wrong reference.

If your car is fitted with blind sport monitoring, both outside mirrors

should have the logo.

Additionally, you should be able de (de)activate them using the right button on your steering wheel and it should be displayed i the maxi DOT.

IHMO, the seller has either fooled you or made a mistake / confusion with another car, when he wrote the car description. 🤔

Anyway, whatever the reason, I think you should deserve some cash back if the car is not what you bought.
