Clutch thrust bearing

Featured Replies

I'm getting the old whiring sound when the clutch is raised, depress and it's gone. Has anyone changed this themselves? The clutch has got lots of bite so I don't really want to change the whole thing but it may be the way to go if the gearbox is apart?

get the lot done mate, you'd kick yourself very hard if you replaced only the bearing then the pressure plate failed soon after. the parts aren't that expensive and the labour costs would be pretty much the same.

Good call. I'm not bad at DIY mechanics so I'm going to give it a go myself, do you know of anything that might cause me a bit of trouble, hidden nasties?

When removing the gearbox withdraw it off the engine and lift the diff upwards, it will then clear the subframe.

Undoing the bottom balljoint on the n/s and the ARB link will let you swing the driveshaft out of the way once its unbolted from the gearbox.

If you remove the slave cylinder from the box instead of disconnecting the pipe you wont have to bleed the clutch system.

Excellent that's all I need to know. Many thanks for that

Also around the back of the gearbox just above the o/s driveshaft there is a little metal plate with a 10mm bolt on it. If you dont remove this you cant get the box off, but its easily forgotten.

That's great thanks a lot. I'll be Attacking the job as soon as I get a clutch kit for it. Also i've been thinking about giving the turbo an overhaul, I know you can clean diesel turbos yourself but is there anything you can do with the petrol k03s?
