Hi All

2010 VRS CR170

The engine management light has come on and vcds gives the information below. Can anyone advise please?

What happens if I drive the car? Will it makes things worse, die a horrible death and leave me stranded ?

Very probably. Mostly because that sort of fault list looks like a battery not charging. Does the battery light appear when you switch the ignition on, but haven't started the engone?

It has been sitting for a while, not getting used much. Will check and charge the battery. It starts and ticks over fine.

I have been looking into possible fixes for the P2015 error.

It seems you can get a small metal bracket that screws on and prevents the motor from over-reaching when it returns from opening the manifold flaps. I have ordered one of the brackets for the 2.0 CR engine. This looked like a quick and inexpensive fix to try first.

I took the engine cover off this evening to have a look at the motor for removing it. Every picture and video I have seen shows the 3 screws put in from the front of the vehicle. On our VRS they are in from the rear giving no access to remove them.

How do I remove that motor?

Cheers

Dave

Just found this. Looks like it is doable but a PITA. Oh joy.

I'm not sure which screws you are referring to but if you need a similar tool for confined spaces I've found a screw bit held captive in a 1/4" ring spanner with a bit of sticky tape works fine.

I am hoping to attempt the job possibly over the weekend but if I have to take the whole manifold off, are there any instructions or how to videos available?

I have searched but can't seem to find anything. Is it a straight forward procedure to remove and refit?

Cheers

if you're taking mani off there's alot of fuel lines, clips and brackets to remove/move to get to the mani bolts, the mani, motor, egr and throttle come off together just remove hose from bottom of throttle and pipe on egr,

first time took me around 3.5 hours second time less than 2,

I decided to check the plug on the motor (unplugged it and plugged it back in. Looked clean, no corrosion etc) and give the car a run to charge the battery. Cruised it up the motorway and as I came off the motorway to turn round to come back it was doing a regen. Cruised it home and completed the regen (back to normal tickover).

I then cleared all codes with VCDS and this time it cleared the P2015 error. It wouldn't clear before. Hopefully it won't come back.

I have the bracket for the motor now so will keep it until I need it. If it was just the battery causing issues, I will test it with a load tester and monitor it. The battery is a few years old and may be nearing replacement.

Thanks for the responses.

Dave
