Emission control system faulty warning light ON

Hello all,

Couple of weeks ago I got the Emission control system faulty warning light on in my dash, with only 3000 km car.

I then went to the dealer which kept my car for troubleshooting and for my surprise, when I went to pick it up again, the light was still ON, and the only explanation I got was that there was no hardware fault, and the fix would be a software update that will be released at some point next year. However, I did my searches and I saw that there are newer updates than the ones I have now:

Have anyone here been in this situation and have any trick to get rid of this warning light? Should I trust the dealer that I have to wait for this update or should I take it somewhere else to have a look? Any insight in this matter would be helpful!

Thanks everyone,

Have a great one!

/Denis

Hello! Looks like I'm the first one to reply. The warning light started to appear about 6-8 months ago but it wasn't on permanently. Since a lot of such warnings come on and off for no aparent reason, I have been ignoring it. However, it is now appearing everytime I start the car and is staying on. At the same time, I am also getting stop/start error messages. I don't know if the two are related. The manual said that "a noticeable reduction in engine performance may occur." But I haven't really noticed. My car is due for a services in a couple of months, so I might wait until then.

In the meantime, has the issue in your car been sorted out?

Hi. This happened to me recently. The light came on upon starting the engine and stayed on throughout the journey but with no loss of engine power. The following morning when I got back in the car, the light didn't come back on and has remained off since. I've also had a major problems with the infotainment system randomly restarting, along with another message that the car couldn't find the key therefore refusing to start, despite the key being in the centre console!

Anyway, after a call to the local dealer, its booked in next week for a software update (sounds like v1941 solves a lot of these problems with other owners cars) so fingers crossed all these bugs will be squashed.

Really love the car (vRS) but I have never had a car with so many niggles as this one 😠

I have exactly the same problem.  Did disappear for a while after the garage did a software update but now get random warning lights on radio/stop start system not working on a regular basis.  Getting frustrating and time this ongoing issue was so4ted.

My car started giving an error in the start stop system. Later the warning turned on.  After resetting I kept intermittent getting the start stop error and after a week or so again the warning light.  Now the charcoal canister is replaced and all seems fine again.
Most likely  caused by overfilling the tank.

@vvdb87 your model is a petrol engine I am guessing? the dealer told me that the diesel engine in the VRS does not have this system need to bang my head to see what is going on with my car cuz nobody seems to have a clue why the engine light is on saying tis a problem with exhaust fumes...

CEL has come on mine today, ODB11 comes up with "P02D300 Cylinder 4 Fuel Injector Offset Learning At Max Limit", so possibly a dodgy injector.  Booked it in with with dealer to investigate, luckily it still drives fine.

I’m having the same problem. The engine emission warning light keeps coming on, and seemingly randomly affecting stop/start and occasionally parking control and other things. It’s been checked, cleared and reset several times at the garage but comes on again a few days later. It’s still under warranty so I want to get it sorted. Any ideas? Should I take it to an electrical specialist? Would that be any different to a normal garage?

I’ve also topped up the oil, as the warning light came on for that and since topping it up and checking the dipstick is fine, the warning light still hasn’t gone off. Could be a sensor problem?

Third thing is since the last software update, Apple Car Play has disappeared from the onscreen menu, and so it doesn’t let me listen to and voice reply to WhatsApp messages (and access other features), which is really frustrating, as I use that a lot whilst driving.

Any suggestions welcome- thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you, that’s good to hear.
Is that a straightforward job and would it cost much to get it done?

Honestly i wouldnt know I run the tdi engine, sorry.
