Booklets, Manuals and Documents supplied with New Car

Featured Replies

I picked up my new Kamiq two days ago and remember during the very quick new car handover the Salesman saying Skoda no longer supply Service books to be stamped. In the slim canvas folder in the glovebox all I have is a 155 page Owners Manual version 06.2021 (the front of which hasn't been completed) with some QR codes on the back to a more detailed online manual (which isn't PDF downloadable) a Roadside Assistance Handbook and Roadside Assistance Quick Reference Guide and a green sticker. Where are the details of the Warranty and what is included and excluded. Am I missing some documents or is it all recorded on Skoda Dealers systems ?

Skoda have not done service books for years now it online I have never had a book signed as it records your first ownership address and name. For your detailed owners manual register with Skoda connect and download manual from there use Skoda connect to connect your car to open more features. Download MyŠKODA app to your phone and follow instructions

Enjoy the new car.

& Happy Christmas.

It is a shame that car Sales People who's job is selling cars can not get the hand over procedures as they should be and explaining the warranty is a part of that.

Sadly many have no idea about the Manufacturers warranty, T&C's Exclusions etc.

If you want a hard copy ask for one.  They are important.

Dealership staff will often wrongly tell customers about what or what is not covered.  They get that info often from another member of staff that have never read a Warranty Booklet.

Ask the dealership for a copy of warranty document, and ask for a print out of the service record (on a new car will only show the PDI).    Good dealerships will have given you these (and a print out confirmation that car is taxed)

Although your service is not due, as a guide for other readers, I always insist on a print out of service record when I pick up car and pay for service.   By time next one is due, you will have forgotten what they did, or when things that are only every few years were last done.   And having a readable record saves having any guessing

With a new car if not already done.

I would go check the Oil Level now as the car was handed over and see where it is cold without the engine started.  Then check again after a trip where the engine was up to operating temp and stopped on the flat, then check after a few minutes.

That is 4 or 5 minutes as the Owners Manual just says 'a few' that is not 15 or 20 minutes.

It is maybe while the car is stopped getting fuel.

(Knowing where it is cold means a check before a trip lets you know there is enough oil.)

The owners manual tells you about maybe using more oil in the first 5,000 km. so do not wait for Low Oil or low oil pressure lights or messages.

**If you get one and open the bonnet and do nothing, not even check the oil level or top up the Low oil light goes off for maybe 100 km / 62 miles.

the oil is still low.**

Check the Coolant level cold as it is now after 2 days from hand over.

Check again maybe in a week when cold if you are using the car and compare.

Check the Tyre Pressures, are they at a sensible pressure. Reset the TPMS.    If they are over inflated, the oil or coolant is low or any other signs that the PDI was slap dash have the Dealer Principal have the Master Tech redo the PDI next week.

Mention the no Warranty Booklet & the need for them to ensure better PDI's and Hand overs and their need to supervise training of staff.

When buying our new Kamiq we spent a few hours in front of the salesman trying to absorb the vast amount of legal and sales blurb which was all totally irrelevant to owning and operating a car!

Even the mixture of handbook, videos and Skoda Connect never seem to answer the actual question I want an answer to!

Our motto is now...."Press and Guess"😲

The car itself is brilliant thought!
