bought 2nd hand skoda. Need to update Columbus system / also cam-belt change advice required.

Featured Replies

Correct me if i am wrong but i believe that i should have received an SD card with the car that i bought from a skoda dealership. which is the best / cheapest way to update the satnav and infotainment system to the latest software. I've just been quoted £270 just for a new SD card from skoda stockport. skoda Dudley, from whom i bought the car, are telling me i can purchase a disc from a skoda dealer for around £40. I did ask them to update the systems before i bought and pocked up the car but they didn't.

Also advise required on the old cambelt change chestnut. i also asked the garage to change the cambelt which they said they would of if it came up on the service requirements. The car is 5 years old but had done only 8000 miles so a bit of a quandary as to know what to do. they didn't change it before i collected it.

Any help much appreciated.

You have to have a Skoda SD card with Amunsden Infotainment as data is read from the SD card to use the SatNav. The Columbus units I believe download the data to store internally so you can use any SD card. They can be updated at home from the internet. I bought a 32GB off ebay for £29 with the 2021/2022 maps and it works fine for my Amunsden unit. But yes the dealer should provide one to start with. Thought the Cam belt was 5 years irrespective of mileage.

If you have Columbus Sat Nav, you can use any SD Card (that's large enough) to update the navigation maps, use the Skoda Update Portal and it'll guide you through the process.

Enter your VIN for appropriate maps etc.

There's a link halfway down the page to a PDF of step by step instructions.
