CCZA 2012 Chain Tensioner

Featured Replies

Evening,

I have a CCZA 2012, anyone know if I have the latest upgraded tensioner please?

The car is on 44k miles but I am debating whether to pre-empt any issues.

Is there anyway of finding out? It has not been changed in the service history, the car has been impeccably serviced by the dealer since new.

I am not overly worried but would rather do the upgrade as I love the car and want to keep it for its lifetime.

Thank you.

If the chain tensioner is still the original one, than it is definitely not the latest version, there have been many revisions since 2012.

Mine is a 2012, it's just been in for it's 60k service and the garage pointed out that it has the CCZA gen 2 engine with the earliest type tensioners, it's going in on Friday to have them replaced and also an irritating vibration at approx 1800rpm fixed, that has turned out to be the plastic fuel lines which will need to be removed and wrapped. The job is going to be about £1100, using parts from VW locally. It's a big bill, but like you I'd rather have it done as a preventative measure as the car is mapped to @270bhp.
