Warning screech

I've got a 66 plate skoda octavia. I mentioned earlier on another post that the engine overheating warning light and associated screetch has been driving me mad.

I've had all mechanical components checked and have been assured that the engine is not overheating. It's a wiring problem. I've been quoted up to £1500 to fix it

as I've been told it's a lot of investigative work to suss out the origin of the problem. I can't afford that just now so can anyone please advise me how to lower/ mute the volume of the 

warning sound until I can afford to get it fixed.
