I have a 2016 vRS wagon (pre facelift) with full leather seats, memory and heating. 

 

 

Has anyone replaced these seat with the face lift seats that have alcantara inserts?

 

 

I would like to replace the front and rear seats with alcantara seats as I find the full leather seats too hot and uncomfortable even with the AC on.

 

If anyone has swapped these seats, is it a straight swap with no modifications required for the wire looms?

I would predict they are a straight swap. Best bet is to climb under the seat and snap some pics of the plugs and cables. Then do the same with a FL car and compare.

Then attempt to find some decent ones. 🧐

@user003484 have you thought about a re-trim?

 

You could potentially have the seat centres re-trimmed and have a half leather look. This would help keep the cost down and give you a bit more freedom of choice on material type/quality.

A good automotive trimmer would be able to replace the seat centres, stitching the replacement material to match the current look.

 

I went to a trimmer to have a badly worn seat bolster replaced and ended up doing the above although I went for perforated leather in a similar colour to the car. Having said that I’ve done my best to keep away from leather since for the reasons you’ve suggested.

I have just replaced my 2015 VRS (full leather, electric seats) with a 2018 (leather / alcantara, electric seats) - and I just want to go back to full leather, so the opposite of your move.

Sorry, I completely forgot about my post here. 

 

I purchased the alcantara seat set from ebay. 

 

The swap was completely plug and play. 

 

The seats are much more comfortable and cooler during the Australian summer. 

 

 

 

Glad to hear it - remember Brisbane in the summertime, leather would not have been fun, haha.  I am finding my alcantara ones have me sitting higher than the leather ones, but perhaps there was some change between the 2015 and 2018 seat design to explain it.
