Dashcam suggestions?

Featured Replies

Not perhaps specific to Octavia, but since i need a well suitable dashcam i'll try here.

What dashcams people suggest to use in Octavia 4? Since there is an USB-C socket, i'd like some suggestions on what would fit nice and have simple use?

I dont want anything fancy. Just something with wide view and easy to use.

I've had the Nextbase 522GW for a couple of years and it's been great. For my Octavia 2 and 3 it was installed with the Nextbase hardwire kit. However, for the Octavia 4 I'm going to try this lead: Amazon Link This is a lead suggested in another thread, and connects to the USB-C socket behind the rear view mirror. I'll see how it goes.

My Dad has had the Nextbase 322GW for a while now and he's been happy with that, it's also slightly cheaper than the 522GW. Both are decent and easy to use.

I'm really looking for a model to look for :)

I went for Nextbase 522 after a lot of research, £149 including SD card, case and fully wired car adaptor was a good deal from Nextbase. I know its not less than £100 but don't forget the SD card is required (high use card, you cannot use a standard SD card or it will crash and die very quickly). 5 Mins to install (with short USB C 90 degree end cable to mini USB)  and it comes with both a suction and sticky window adaptor. A bonus was that the screen saver can be set to GPS speed which I find useful. I personally wanted one with GPS included but may not be necessary for everyone. Good luck with your search.

I ordered Viofo A129 plus, because it has a capacitor instead of a battery so I won't have to remove the cam during winter or hot summer days. Guess that's not much of an issue in the UK.

Whaaat. I can get Nextbase 522GW for 265€ (about £220) in Finland. Are we looking at the same product? :)

I dont need the wiring things since i'm going to use the usb-c socket. No real need for GPS either.

I bought a Road Angel Aura HD3 front & rear camera from Costco before Xmas when they had it on offer @£119

on paper that looks like the perfect lead for the built in usb-c connection, as the 90 degree end would look neater, but  at only 10" long i dont think that will be long enough to cross to the other side

I found the link from this thread here. The cable arrived yesterday so I'll try it and see if it works out ok in the next few days.

You should have a look at the Xiaomi 70 mai dashcams. Very well built. Great value for money. I’m on my second device now. I currently have 800s which might be to fancy for you. The 1080p version is about 90 euro or less. I love the video it records, also during night time.
