Radio reception issues

Featured Replies

I own a three year old Karoq Edition that has proven to be a very versatile and loved vehicle.

In the early days I used to listen to the radio (primarily Radio 2) however, as that channel fell out of favour with me I reverted to listening to my own music on SD card.

My Wife has become fed up of my tunes and wants the radio instead for most journeys and that is where my issue comes in.

The radio worked fine in DAB and other modes a couple of years ago but now it struggles to find or lock in to stations, be it in DAB or FM.

I can do a search which either can't find many stations or it finds them but then loses lock within then next 30 seconds or so.

Has anyone had similar issues?

The car is out of warranty now.

Sounds like a problem connecting to the aerial - which I think is part of the rear window? Have you added a rear dashcam as these can interfere with the radio reception?

I've not added any additional stuff to the car including dashcam etc.

I've seen others have the same issue on much older posts on this site and it seems that it should be resolved by software updates.

I had the car serviced in Aug 21 but I have a feeling that they didn't plug the car in and update/install any new software.

Good News and Bad News

Bad news - Went in to Skoda Salisbury today and they ran numerous diagnostics tests but no fault codes found, checked the aerial and obvious other points but couldn't identify the issue.

Good News - They didn't charge me for the hour taken but have agreed to investigate further when I take the car in for MOT and service in August. They will try swapping in a different head unit etc.

Even better news - Used the time to test drive a Kia EV6 GT S line followed by an Enyaq 60 Suite. The Kia was good but trying too hard to be the future in my opinion. The Enyaq was far better despite being the most basic model and felt like the logical next step to the Karoq. Shame about the price and waiting lists for both car though.
