Hidden towbar on Combi Sportline 4x4

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am about to order new Octavia Combi Sportline 2.0 TSI 4x4 DSG. It can't be ordered with the integrated towbar fitted as it interferes with the sportline rear bumper (I was told that by the dealership, same problem on FWD sportline).  It can be ordered with towbar preparation only.

I have asked two companies that fit towbars about my options for a hidden towbar install, but I am yet to hear from them.

Has anybody installed a hidden towbar on a sportline? Either swinging or removable type. Is there added complications or less space behind bumper with 4x4?

This is the last thing holding me back as I need the towbar regularly for bike rack, but don't want it to spoil the look of the car when not in use.

Thank you for your answers.

Really can't understand this. Why there can't be a tow bar installed on a Sportline version, but it's possible to have it on a VRS?

I just checked Slovenian configurator and it looks like it's true. There is no option to select a tow bar with a Sportline. But it's available with the RS. Mind-blowing. 😵

It's very weird yes. I think RS has a completely different bumper, while sportline has a normal one with added chrome trim and fake exhausts. That one piece of chrome trim seems to be interfering with the OEM towbar, but I am not sure.

Hmmm tow bar is hidden well below that chrome trim I think.

This is how it looks by the RS
