Emission Control System Light

Featured Replies

Hi, I've recently purchased a 2018 Octavia vrs diesel estate, and I have a question regarding the ECS light.

When I put the key in the ignition all the warning lights come on and then go out, apart from the ECS light, which stays on. However when I turn the engine on it does go out.

I've barely had the car 2 weeks and I'm sure this light used to go out with all the others when putting the key in the ignition.

Bought from Bristol Street Motors it's still within their 90 day warranty, should I be concerned?

Many thanks

The lights come on as a bulb and system check - in most cases the system check can be done straight away so they go out.

But the engine can't be checked until it's running, so the ECS light can't go out until the engine is running.

So perfectly normal and correct behaviour.
