Camera

Featured Replies

hi guys just got my hands on a 2018 superb sportline on buying it we stipulated that we wanted a rear-view camera and got one fitted by the dealer. The camera does what it says on the tin but the field of view is looking down behind the car. We had a camera on our Auris and it had a great field of view and helped greatly when reversing. The camera fitted on the superb does not give a good field of view behind the car. i have seen somewhere that there are different types of camera available, one being for a tow-bar which if fitted my camera would cover well lol but i don't have a tow-bar. If there are different cameras where would i get the info so i can go back to the dealer fully armed.  Picture to come

Not sure there are different view angles cameras per se, the hardware is all the same, there are different version in terms of what you can do, there are lowline, midline, and highline cameras, but as far as i know they are all the same in terms of hardware.. Do you have moving guidelines when in reverse? also when in reverse, if you hover your hand do the right of the screen there should be a pop out whith buttons, and there you can choose your angles, there is a towbar mode, parallel parking, and normal, as well as wide view i think, not sure though as i only ever use the normal, and towbar if i need to connect to a trailer!

Thank you didn't know about the pop out panel will try that when I get home

Yes, there are different views available I'd say you just need to change it.

Can you show us a photo of this view angle.

I retrofit cameras a lot for people so am pretty well versed in all the ins and outs, issue with the dealer is they have 3 things to go by and don’t actually understand how it works

-they’re step by step instruction guide

-the 5 digit code they enter to code it

-any fault codes

with all these they aren’t too sure what they are actually doing, just following a set of instructions, hopefully this means they can’t mess it up.

out of interest, what did they charge

Something is not right here, and there is a few possible options

You can have a low line or highline camera, different specs and functions of either.

Highline allows you to have full control of the camera including moving lines and a better view.

What they have fitted... well i have no idea what that is, whether they have somehow got a lowline camera but charged you more than i charge for highline... or theyve done the worst thing and got a universal camera kit and wired that in.

Do you have an invoice from when the camera was fitted, who fitted in specifically and did they use genuine parts?

EDIT: Ive re-read what you said, it wasnt a main dealer that fitted it was it im guessing... Where abouts are you based as its not in your bio?

Hi it was a main Scoda dealer in Maidstone. I will ask if I can see the invoice but I suspect its been disposed of, they did say it was genuine parts used I am based in the maidstone area.
