help needed with braking issue

Featured Replies

Hi guys, strange fault with braking on my mk1 VRS, occasionally the pedal will go to the floor with no braking at all and I have to release and push the pedal again to get any braking, any ides on what this could be?

Brakes have had new fluid and bled twice so far, this has made no difference, it has new pads and discs all round less than 2k miles ago, no signs of any buldging on pipes either.

Bit stuck now as its not the safest to drive!

Replace the master cylinder.

That's what I thought as well !  A leaky seal will most certainly cause this

If you sit in the car with the engine off and pump the brakes until the pedal is hard, then put a good bit of steady pressure on the brake pedal - If it starts to move to the floor you have a fluid leak or master cylinder issue.

Do the due diligence of looking at all the flexy and hard lines for evidence of fluid loss just to make sure its not that.

Just throwing this in as well - When I got the fluid changed in mine there was a VCDS routine run to bleed the ABS Modulator - Then as far as I can recall the brakes were bled after this.

Check the easy stuff first but.
