Octavia Elegance equals crap !!!

Featured Replies

This is the third time of sending and havent seen the previous two posted to bring you up to date once more I have x reg octavia elegance full service history owned for nearly two years. Great car when its going, problem is its always breaking down, I have forgotten the complete list but heres some of it clutch judder, new clutch etc, central locking , several times, cd player working not working, rear screen washer not working clutch pedal broke, brake pedal broke, key jammed in drivers door lock, cable that operates inner drivers door snapped. Unable to remove sump plug, gearbox leak water leak , air con pump replaced and today it went bang, no power, expensive noises from engine clouds of black smoke and no power, what have I done drove it to garage and asked them to bury it somewhere, what am I going to do, buy another Ford I own x reg focus as well, not a penny has been spent owned as long as the Skoda, Skoda has drained my bank account behond belief, and they say Skodas have got better, or am I just unlucky ????

I can heartily recommend the Mk3 Mondeo ;)

Chris

Sounds like a nail to me mate. I think a swift trip to the auction is the best bet !

I didn't think they did X plate Elegance either ? Learn something new every day :D

Your previous comprehensive post about the car is here. Has anything changed since then? Fortunately for the overwhelming majority us here your experience is far from typical, and it does sound as if your car had a very hard life prior to you buying it. Better luck with your 374th car. :(

Parker's shows that the Elegance was introduced from the 00/X model.

Must have been a very late X reg and a very early Elegance - because I too diddnt think the Elegance arrived until after that.

I was selling Octavia GLX and SLX etc on a X at that time. Y was my first memory of Elegance - but it is only my memory, hardly scientific research - lol :)

 sorry 2 hear your troubles with an elegance m8. mines 2 yr old mk1. no probs so far. think you have just been very unlucky.must of been a party on that night shift when they built your 1. :D

I've had 2 Octavia now...a 00/W reg SLX TDi and now a 52 reg RS....both from new.

I've not had any major problems with either....arguably the W reg was better in terms of faults...there were non. My RS has had coil packs replaced, the driver seat base replaced, the electric windows play up in wet weather and teh driver's seat belt tensioner sticks.

I think these a pretty common faults and most of them were covered by warranty.

Whilst it's very unfortunate that you are experiencing such problems I cannot say it is typical of Octavias.

I have to say this list seems prety bad, why would you break a key in the door lock as the elegance has remote central locking, it also has a radio cassette and 6 disc changer.

No idea how you manged have both the clutch and brake peddles break they seem pretty damn solid to me unless prehaps the pedle box was going funny.

Lack of power and lots of black smoke, seems like you need a clean air filter.

Air con pump blowing up after being replaced, somebody did a bad job of replacing it and should replace it again FOC.

cable that operates inner drivers door, what cable is this.

Without wanting to be rude, i would suggest you are the one of the unluckiest skoda drivers out there, the full service history has been made up as that car sounds like it must have been quite heavily abused for that much to go wrong, your garage/dealer is not very good or a wee bit of stiring is going on here.

I mean I have seen older taxis running around without that many problems, and not just one or two but whole fleets of them.

You must be very unlucky, i've had my Y reg elegance for 3.5 years and apart from coil packs and MAF the only money i've spent on it is playing money. I'd just cut your losses and sell the thing, try and get a better runner next time!

It's a what I call one of the 'sick' cars that came off the production line. Get rid of it.
