Hi all 

 

Just wanted to check the best tyre pressure for the weight. Got a long journey coming up - over 3 hours - with more weight than normal. 3 people, 2 dogs and some luggage. The recommendation is up to 3 people and 1 suitcase (no specified weight for suitcase) 32psi all around front and back. Up to 5 people and 3 cases (fully loaded) 36psi fronts and 46psi rear. These are for 225/45 tyres Goodyear all weather ones brand new. 

 

Question is, the three of us plus 2 dogs weigh just under 300kg, about 280kg, and the luggage is one small suitcase and some holdalls. So technically weight all in would be the equivalent of 5 people of average weight. So would I do the 36 fronts and 46 rear or 36 all around? I would personally go 36 front and 42 rear for the weight and compensating for expansion of rubber. 

 

Probably being over the top about it, but the rear suspension is pretty rubbish on the Skoda so want to make sure I've got the right pressure.

I would just go 36psi and 46psi cold pressure. They are rated as upto rather than exact weight.
