Fabia Mk1 07 plate -window switch/motor Test strategy using multimeter( intermittent issue)

Featured Replies

Hi Experts ,

Apologies to bother you , I have intermittent issue with window switch, when driver side window does not work than passenger side switch also does not work a is understand they have master slave relationship, never understood  the circumstances & its switch behaviour . I have new switch bought from Skoda many years back as per mechanic advice but later found that it was motor issue not switch issue so still new and packed condition.

Lock /unlock switches  works seemlessly .

I have removed old one & It has 6 pins any info on circuit digram with voltage/ground info will help me to test on both scenrios  when it is working and when it is not please.

Please find switch info attached.  Any experience on this matter would be highly appreciable.

Cheers

Why not just fit the new switch you have and see if it cures the problem? If that doesn't work it will be either broken wires inside the door bellows or the window motor.

Pins 5 and 6 of the switch unit get connected to 0V/earth (pin 11) via the following resistances depending on each switch position:

1. Press switch down to the first detent - 150 Ohms to earth

2. Press switch fully down - short/0 Ohms to earth

3. Pull switch up to first detent - 1.8k Ohms to earth

4. Pull switch up fully - 530 Ohms  to earth.

These were measured on a new aftermarket switch unit, if I remember right, so may not be precisely those of a genuine switch, but I'd expect reasonable agreement.

Pin numbering (just visible in your photo) includes the non-fitted pins.
