Superb iV Estate economy

Featured Replies

I am looking at changing my existing diesel and changing to a PHEV since my commute takes me into the ULEZ and I am currently having to pay

my commute is an 80 mile round trip with half of that being motorway

once all the electric range is used up on the Superb what sort of economy would I expect to get?

Welcome.

Can you even get a new Superb iV delivered this year or are you looking at maybe getting a used one?

Be aware that the engine requires fixed interval Oil & Filter servicing.

A mod might move your post to the Superb section.

There are threads there that might cover your question.

My Passat is basically the same so I'll share my experience.

Should get mid to high 40s on a run with gentle throttle. On an 80 mile round trip you can use the charge strategically on the slow urban bits either end and the engine on the motorway. You would soon get used to getting the most from it. Maybe see anything from 60 to 100 mpg (over the 40 mile each way) depending on charge and ambient temperature.

This is from my trip from Cambs to Colchester and back, on the way there I had a full battery and was totally flat on the way back so I was impressed to still get 45mpg :) 7253FD2D-E6E4-4908-B250-DDF0AE4D7A73.thumb.png.f2011ac14ef8bf9d6d53e936f0ddbd08.png93254866-1BA4-431A-88D6-C1A2CD9D4284.thumb.png.d2023bcae1e009d805667fea2e4db34c.png

I can echo above except I've found the superb is easier on fuel than Passat. I'd expect 45 mpg in winter and 55 in the summer.

You can do better by doing all sorts of fastidious driving. I've managed 70 on a similar commute in the Passat, but can confirm on a journey of that length you soon stop bothering with all that!
